Recreational Gymnastics

Gymnastics is one of the most fundamental and exciting of all physical activities. Basic gymnastics skills develop attributes that are perfect stepping stones for other sports and activities: flexibility, balance, co-ordination, strength and agility.
At Southbourne Gymnastics Club we offer a wide range of sessions suitable for children aged 4-16 years of age. Our structured recreational sessions are the best place to start your gymnastics pathway journey. Like most activities, we begin by grouping the gymnasts by age, but as they progress they will move into ability level.
With the chance to use a wide variety of equipment every session its a safe environment to build skills across bars, beam, floor, vault and the tumble track.

Currently our recreational sessions are 45 minutes in duration and run on
Thursdays 4.15-5pm
Thursdays 5.15-6pm
Thursday 6.15-7pm
Friday 6.45-7.30pm
Saturday 8.30-9.15am
Saturday 9.15-10am

Gymnasts that show hard work and commitment are invited into one of the many progressive pathways available. One of our coaching team will advise when your child is ready to move class.

Our recreational gymnasts follow the British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards system allowing them to work towards badges and certificates of their achievements throughout the term.
The club provides the opportunity for our recreational children to demonstrate their ability through our annual Wendy Lewis Club Championships which is usually held in March. This is a fun and friendly take on the competitive structure, where recreational and squad gymnasts perform side-by-side in a individual and team event to unite the club.
