Many of our girls headed over to Wickers gymnastics club in Lancing for their annual competition.
Southbourne Gymnastics Club was established in 2003 by Wendy Lewis and Becker Cox. Having met at gymnastics classes in 1977 they remained friends through their gymnastics classes and later in their coaching. Having coached for many years in other clubs the opportunity arose to start the club at the Bourne Community Leisure Centre and they opened the doors to many keen and enthusiastic gymnasts. Wendy sadly passed away in 2006 but is in our thoughts at all our sessions. Becker Cox and Laura Wilton now currently run Southbourne Gymnastics Club in partnership.
Our classes run at the centre four days a week with regular term time sessions being held in many local schools and sports venues the club's coaches teach over 350 gymnasts each week.
Southbourne Gymnastics Club is a GymMark club registered with British Gymnastics, South East Gymnastics and Sussex Gymnastics and provides classes for children training for fun and working towards the British Gymnastics Accredited Badge Schemes and for competitive gymnasts who take part in up to 15 competitions each year. The club's gymnasts have achieved many regional and county placings at competitions and have members who train with the county squad.
The gymnasts enjoy training with our qualified coaches who are motivating and enthusiastic with all the children. Structured classes are offered with time and attention being put in by the coaches outside of the gym to ensure the classes are fun, productive and varied for the gymnasts.
There is a place at the club for every child at any level and care and attention is given to ensure each gymnast achieves new skills whilst having fun, interacting with other children and learning.
