The Sussex championships took place over the 22/23rd September at Burgess hill this year, and incorporated both General Advanced + levels and Artistic levels.

To kick start the weekend off, the Floor and Vault competition began. In the advanced catergories saw Verity and Isabel compete after recently moving up to this category. Isabel placed 5th on vault and 6th overall. Verity placed 7th overall.

In the Silver category saw Isabella and Eleanor compete. Eleanor placed 3rd on floor, 5th on vault for 3rd place overall. Issy placed 5th on vault, 9th on floor for 6th place overall.

Katherine, Emma and Ellie competed in the Bonze category. Ellie placed 8th on floor, 2nd on vault for 3rd medal overall. Katherine having moved up to this level for this competition competed well placing 6th on floor, 4th on vault, marginally missing out on a medal in 4th place, just 0.15 behind Ellie. Emma placed 3rd on vault, 2nd on floor, just 0.1 behind first. Her efforts across both these peices combined for the gold medal overall, scoring 16.50. This huge score means Emma has triggered a move up to Silver for the next competition!

Onto Sunday, the Women’s Artistic competition took place. Round 1 saw the modified 4 girls, Ebony, Daisy and Courtney take to the floor!  Daisy placed 9th on beam and 11th on bars. Ebony placed 4th on beam. Courtney placed 6th on bars and 11th overall.

Round 2 was for the level 4 OOA gymnasts, Maisie and Ches. Ches placed 8th on floor and vault, and 2nd on beam, just 0.05 from 1st place! Ches finished in 8th place overall. Maisie placed 3rd on vault, beam and floor. An unfortunate error on bars for 10th place, leaving Maisie in 6th place overall.

Final round for the day, Level 5 OOA saw Jess and Athena compete. Both competed well with stuck beam routines, a few errors but lots to take away from the experience. Well done to all who took part at the Sussex Championships and represented Southbourne.
